How to stay calm with Faster EFT

It’s no secret that we’re living in extremely challenging times.

You just have to turn on the news, open your Facebook feed, log onto Instagram, scroll through Twitter, and you’ll be bombarded with awful news stories.

On a personal level, everyone is always going through something – financially, emotionally, physically, medically.

But on a larger scale, we’re being faced with challenges in our world – from mass shootings, record breaking hurricanes, racial tensions, financial frauds, political frenzy, to out of control wildfires etc.

If you feel overwhelmed listening to and thinking about these devastating changes, then we challenge you not to let it overwhelm you.

We challenge you to stay calm despite the appearances.

Fight or Flight

What is the ‘fight or flight’ stress response?

Stress is the body’s response to the mind’s perception.

In other words: you experience something and your mind perceives that experience in a certain way that causes your brain to signal your body to go into a state of emergency (fight, freeze or flight).

The body’s response is the same in the case of mental triggers as it is in the event of physical danger.

When you feel the fight, freeze or flight sensations that come with negative emotional states – from worry and anxiety to anger and hurt – your body has put itself into a state of emergency.

This includes:

* Elevated heart-rate

* Blood being pumped away from the organs to the extremities (to help with running away and fighting)

* Digestive system minimizes or shuts down (digestion is not necessary in the short term for escaping a threat)

* Healing is put on hold (it’s not necessary for escaping an imminent physical threat)

* The prefrontal cortex of the brain becomes inactive (cognitive thinking is not necessary for running away from a wild animal or fighting off an attacker)

* Stress chemicals like adrenaline and cortisol flood the bloodstream and have various effects on the cells of the body

* The cells cease to function normally and are not picking up nutrients as they would normally in this emergency state

These are just a few of the effects of the fight, freeze or flight state.

How to remain calm with Faster EFT

If you know that stress is harmful to your body, and that your thoughts create stress, the moment you react to external circumstances, you are introducing stress hormones into your bloodstream.

That’s why it’s important to realize that no matter what is happening, you can remain calm.

Remaining calm in challenging situations allows your mind to think of logical and helpful solutions.

Instead of floundering about in a panic and making decisions based on fear, rather than rational judgement.

These survival emotions magnify your fears, anxieties and doubts.

Events that you have no control over, but cause you to feel overwhelmed, are the ones that can be the most challenging to handle.

We’re not saying you shouldn’t feel anything when you hear shocking news about shootings, hurricanes or receive news of personal loss.

What we’re saying is that instead of responding with stress, you can respond with Faster EFT to maintain your calm.

This way, you’re not giving away your power to someone or something outside of yourself.

What Faster EFT allows you to do is to be the eye of the storm.

The ‘eye’ is a calm center in the middle of a storm, and that’s where we need to be, regardless of the storms raging on around us.

The ‘eye’ of the storm is a place of complete stillness, calm and peace.

If you can allow yourself to become the eye, then you too can be calm and at peace with your life, regardless of external circumstances, and that’s where your true power lies.

This is what we train and help people to do at Faster EFT Live events.

By training ourselves to be calm regardless of the circumstances, we are better able to handle the storms that life throws our way.

How does Faster EFT work for stress?

The effects of the fight and flight state can vary from one person to another; but the overall effects are highly detrimental.

The brain and body is designed to withstand (and even thrive) in short periods of stress.

However, long-term ongoing high levels of stress can cause extreme damage.

While relaxation techniques can be very effective in relieving stress to some extent; they do not remove the root cause of the stress.

In order to be permanently calm, you need to address the original record that is causing the subconscious to prompt the brain to trigger the stress response.

Step 1:

Think about what usually triggers you to feel stress.

What is it that generally causes a stress response in you?

Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and think of that trigger now in as much detail as possible.

As you do this, notice how you feel, what you see, and what you hear.

Notice what the feeling is like, where in your body you feel it, and how strong it is.

Step 2:

Using two fingers, and focusing on the feeling of your fingertips on your skin, gently tap the following meridian points while saying the phrases:

– Between your eyebrows – “I release and let it go.”

– Beside your eye – “It’s okay to let this go now.”

– Under your eye – “It’s safe to let this go now.”

– Just below your collarbone – “I don’t need it anymore, and I’m safe as I’m letting it go.”

Step 3:

Grab your wrist, take a deep breath, blow it out, and say “Peace” then go to a peaceful memory.

Enjoy the feeling of your peaceful memory for a moment.

Step 4:

Go back to the memory of whatever it is that usually causes you to feel stressed, and notice what’s different.

Has the memory changed in any way?

Is the feeling different?

Has the feeling moved position in your body, or has it changed in intensity?

Just notice what’s still left there.

Step Five

Now, repeat the steps 2 to 4 again, and keep doing this until the feeling of stress has completely gone and has been replaced by a feeling of peace.

Make sure you don’t stop until there is no trace of the stressed feelings at all and feel completely peaceful.

Do this with each thing that usually stresses you; and do it whenever you start to feel stressed.

You will find that not only will you be able to get rid of the feelings of stress in the moment; but the things that used to cause you to feel stressed no longer produce that response in you.

It’s human to get affected by things going on in your life, just don’t let that become your habitual state of living.
